Course Description: Seamanship -5 is an interactive subject designed to meet the needs of the 21st century learners. It is anchored on holistic approach in developing the basic learning competencies in Ship Handling and Maneuvering of BSMT Curriculum. The lessons per quarter are presented in spiral progression to achieve proficiency in various topics. Seamanship 5 focuses on basic which bring the students to the wonderful world of Ship Handling and Maneuvering. The reading texts and activities are carefully chosen to tailor fit the interests of Cadets/students and to instill in them sense of responsibility, sensitivity and professionalism. With this module, the writer hopes that the learner would gain knowledge, understanding that describe the Basic & Fundamental of ship handling ready to compete not only in the local but also in the global arena.
Course Description: This subject emphasizes the key components and fundamental ideas of marine power plants. It is geared toward students studying marine transportation. The ship's marine power plant is in charge of producing the mechanical and electrical energy needed for ship propulsion and different ship auxiliaries. According to the type of power generating source that provides the ship's propulsion power, marine power plants are categorized. Internal combustion engines, gas turbines, and steam turbines are the three primary prime movers. Depending on the vessel type, steam cycles driven by oil fueled boilers are employed with steam turbines. Combinations of the types do exist, and new technology, such as all-electric ships, are becoming more and more of a global concern.
NAV 5 - Covers concepts, use, limitations, and operations of RADAR and ARPA, Learning activities are designed toward the development of the student’s theoretical knowledge and practical abilities in the operation of RADAR and ARPA system for system for ensuring the safety of navigation.
The course includes maintaining the seaworthiness of the ship, safe operation of deck machinery, shipboard maintenance and repair, application of health and safety precautions, ship handling like berthing, anchoring and application of leadership and team working skill
